If you’re planning a surprise proposal in Zermatt, I can help you keep it simple. We’ll choose a spot that feels right for you two, and I’ll suggest a time that avoids the busiest moments. I’ll stay discreet, capture the proposal, and then we will do a relaxed session right after while the emotions are still fresh.

Elopements & intimate weddings

Zermatt is a beautiful setting for elopements and intimate weddings — iconic views, a sense of occasion, and that quiet mountain atmosphere. It suits couples who want something meaningful, scenic, and personal.

Family and couple's photoshoots

These are relaxed sessions with gentle direction, not stiff posing. We can start early in the village for quieter streets, then head to an easy viewpoint — or go to Sunnegga or along the Gornergrat route if you want more mountain feel. If you don’t mind a bit more walking, I can also suggest quieter places away from the main flow.

Gornergrat viewpoints

Gornergrat offers high-altitude views and some of the strongest Matterhorn backdrops in the area, which makes it a great option for elopements and milestone sessions. Along the route, it’s also worth exploring Riffelberg and Rotenboden — with a bit of gentle walking, we can step away from the busiest viewpoints and find quieter corners. This has been one of my long-time favorite photoshoot areas, and it’s especially beautiful in winter, summer, and early autumn. It’s best suited for clients who are comfortable with higher elevation.

Sunnegga area

Sunnegga is especially popular with families thanks to its dedicated family zone and easy lift access. It’s also the starting point of the well-known “5 Lakes” hike, so the area has a relaxed, holiday-friendly atmosphere. For photos, it works beautifully: open views, simple walking paths, and plenty of spots that feel alpine. If you’re up for a short hike, we can even reach the first of the five lakes for more variety and stunning background.

Zermatt village

The village gets busy, but it’s so charming that an early-morning session is absolutely worth it for quieter streets and a calmer feel. There is also a lesser-known viewpoint that captures the whole village from above with the Matterhorn in the background — a great option if you don’t mind a longer uphill walk.

Best time of year for Zermatt photos

Summer (June–September)

Longer days, greener landscapes, and easier access to higher viewpoints.

Autumn (late September–October)

Cooler air, warmer tones, and often quieter trails.

Winter (December–March)

Snowy landscapes and a clean, minimal look. Expect colder temperatures and shorter daylight.

Spring (April–May)

A transition season. Some higher areas may still have snow while lower paths start opening up.
