Family photoshoot in Lauterbrunnen

Amy & James family photoshoot

Autumn in Lauterbrunnen is a great time for a family photoshoot. The valley feels calmer than in summer, the colors are warm, and the light in the morning is soft and flattering. Even though autumn is generally quieter, Lauterbrunnen is still one of the most popular villages in Switzerland, so meeting early is the easiest way to keep the experience relaxed and the backgrounds clean.

For this session, the family wanted simple, timeless portraits in the most iconic location in the valley: the narrow path with the church, the dramatic cliffs, and the waterfall view in the background. We met just after sunrise, when the trail was peaceful and we had room to work without distractions. That early timing also helped the kids settle in quickly, with no pressure and no rushing.

After those classic “everyone together” photos, we continued with an easy walk and used the valley paths for more natural moments. Instead of stiff posing, I guide families with simple prompts and movement so kids stay engaged: walking hand in hand, little races, quick cuddles, and those in-between smiles that happen when they’re having fun. The result is a mix of clean family portraits and real, lively images that actually feel like your morning in Lauterbrunnen.

"A fantastic experience! Very willing to work with us to schedule for the best weather day during a very rainy week. Our toddler was being quite difficult, but you would never know by our photos. We are extremely happy with how everything turned out."
